About this event

The League of Women Voters of Plainfield will host an in-person forum for mayoral and city council candidates to answer questions related to governing in Plainfield. Sponsored by TAPinto Plainfield, the event will take place on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Hubbard Middle School auditorium.

On June 10, voters will select one candidate for mayor and one candidate to represent the Fourth Ward on the council. Richard Wyatt is challenging incumbent mayor Adrian O. Mapp. Former Councilwoman Bridget Rivers is running against current councilwoman Terri Briggs-Jones.

Registration is not Required
During the forum, the public may submit additional questions for review and consideration by league members and asked during the event. Questions may address any area the candidate may be asked to vote on during their term, for example, proposed tax increases, the amount of the city’s debt, the location of a business, funding for rental assistance, or homelessness.

The public may view but not communicate with the moderator or candidates during the event. In addition, the league asks that candidates and attendees adhere to the following rules, which will be enforced:

Candidates may read from an electronic device but then must turn it face-down.
Candidates may not wear or display any logos, images, or texts.
Campaigns may distribute literature outside the auditorium but not inside it. Campaign volunteers may stand behind the tables.
Collecting and distributing money for a candidate are not allowed on the premises.
